Tough Start to Season; Welcome to New Sponsor All-Star Sports Bar & Grill!

Published on September 22, 2008

Both teams began their IFFC seasons last weekend, and both encountered tough matches. The All-Stars came up against a strong Japanese passing game and found themselves down 2-0 at halftime. The Barbs regrouped in the second half, and two fine goals left the final score at 2-2. The under strength Barbarians A Team did not fare so well, falling 7-1 to the recently relegated Russians. Both teams will be looking for better results this weekend as we match up against our archrivals in the Forbidden City/Summer Palace clan.

In other news, last week the Club secured a fantastic sponsorship deal with All-Star Sports Bar & Grill. The deal will see both parties supporting each other strongly over the coming season. New kits are being ordered as I type and are expected to be ready within the next couple of weeks. I had a great meeting with them and I am really excited about the prospect of us working together in the future. Hope the rest of you are, too!

Lastly, I just wanted to apologize for the late cancellation of training this week. Due to bad weather and the expectation of a low turnout, we decided to pull the plug at the last minute. We will do our best to give more warning time for any future cancellations. (We later found out that ClubFootball cancelled all their bookings too, so things were an no go anyway.) Training resumes next Thursday at Chaoyang Park, and we expect to see you all there.
