Looking Back at 2007; Big Hopes for 2008

Published on December 24, 2007

2007 has been a great year for the Barbarians. Both teams have been growing consistently stronger, and the payoff came when both were promoted up a division. The As are looking good in their new league, although the current state of the table makes it likely that the will be battling away until the final game to avoid relegation. There is certainly enough talent in the squad, and providing everyone keeps their heads and gives it all on the weekends, it should not be a problem to achieve a mid-table finish.

The Bs saw themselves join Division 2 and, despite a stumbling start, soon got up to pace. Several good results prior to the winter break means they will spend the New Year at the middle of the table, with aspirations of a promotion push in the spring.

In 2008 the Barbs will be looking to cement their status as a fully flourishing club. The new sponsors we recently welcomed in will be a great help in that regard. In addition, the management will soon be announcing a number of changes to the club's leaders. A Club Committee meeting will be scheduled for soon, followed by a club-wide meeting to discuss recently vacated and newly created positions.

Anyway, Merry Christmas, Happy Holidays and have a great, safe New Year!!!
