The A team face their biggest battle of the 2007-2008 season this weekend as they take on the not-so-mighty Vikings. The As have looked a much stronger outfit this second half season, but the Vikings are much improved too. Despite their improvement though, the Vikings are still firmly slotted in the relegation zone and defeat to our A Team will almost surely guarantee their departure from top flight amateur football in Beijing. Victory for the A's will mean that only a natural disaster of titanic proportions will see them relegated from the IFFC Premiere League.
The Barbarians As currently lie 6 points clear of the Vikings, and a win on Sunday will make extend our lead to a whopping 9 points! For a team that doesn't have 9 points after 15 games, the Vikings will surely find it too much to make up that ground in the final handful of games.
It's been a tough old season for the Barbarians as Premiere League newcomers. The first season is always the toughest. During the winter break, a new manager was appointed to help take some of the workload, and so far Richard has done a great job in getting everyone to pull together to help ensure we don't have two teams in the same division next season. It's going to be a fun finish, and the we all want to finish on a high note, right? So even if we do win on Sunday, we gotta keep pushing forward and make sure that when next season starts, no one will relish the chance of coming up against the mighty barbaric Barbarians A.
Failure is not an option! Resistance is futile!
