So, the pot now has 3,030rmb in it! Everyone can still keep bidding for the above teams in 10rmb or 50rmb lots.
I can’t believe no-one has bid on teams like Switzerland, Paraguay, Uruguay & Slovakia and a few real outsiders like Honduras, New Zealand and Greece.
While some of the HUGE favourites are still going REALLY cheap like Spain, Portugal, Germany, Italy, Argentina…then there are the middle teams too.
Last week before the big competition starts…you’ve got to start getting your bids in now lads…don’t leave it until it is TOO LATE!!!

Gents,
The season's awards' party is upon us and eee by gum, we deserve a drink or two!! It's been a tough year for this team...still, as always there's been some highlights, some lowlights, some f*cking funny sh*t and some things we'd all like to forget about...
So, we're going to gather this Saturday at our sponsor Danger Doyle's 7.30-8pm to get have a nice buffet dinner, have a load of drinks and then have the season 2009-10 Awards for the following:

As & Bs:
Manager's Player of the Year
Player's Player of the Year
Golden Boot
5's A's & B's:
Manager's Player of the Year (MVP)
(plus another award I believe - TBC)
Darts:
Manager's Player of the Year (MVP)
Most Improved Chucker of the Year
and the most important trophy of the year:
BARBARIAN OF THE YEAR 2009-10
and of the course the annual boat race, where the B's always cheat...however, it would be nice to have enough 5's and darts players there so we can actually have a PLAY OFF first...haha...we'll see!
We NEED all our club members to bring a partner, friend or stranger along to make the numbers swell and it more of an interesting night.
It's the usual 150rmb per ticket, with free drinks till 12 (not spirits I think TBC)...then we get our discounted prices after the cut off time. There's international friendlies and of course the club will be taking bets for the World Cup competitions.
Anyway, please the flyer (designed by Tatlai Wong Club Legend) for more details and PLEASE BRING SOMEONE AND SUPPORT YOUR TEAM MATES when they win their awards!!
Looking forward to having a drink with you this Saturday night!

Boys and Girls,
Barbarians Football Club are pleased to announce a NEW competition to club members only (Cos it's illegal to gamble in China :)
We're playing for the Golden Boot...the most coveted prize after the cup itself...Who will it be?? Will it be Rooooooknneeeee, Messy, Droggers or one of the new guys like little Chicharitoe...anywway, you are the expert so you tell me! :)
Entry is 100rmb for one World Cup player...all the money is put into the pot and then whoever is the ACTUAL golden boot winner, the pot is divided by those people (club members) who have that player. For example...if 20 people play this competition then the pot will have 2,000rmb. If Wayne Rooney is the ACTUAL golden boot winner, and 10 of those people have Wayne Rooney, then they will each get 200rmb. Got it? Easy really...
As usual please contact me directly via email or text to register your player. I will keep a record and update you as often as possible.

Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am pleased to announce the Barbarians 2010 World Cup Competition is now open to all!
We've set up an auction system, bidding for each team competing in the World Cup finals. The person who ultimately bids the highest for each team will hold the ticket for that team going into the World Cup Finals, starting on Friday 11th June, 2010.
Here's the format:
Bidding: Any person can bid for any team. A bid is made when I recieve an email OR a text message including the Team name, the bid amount and the sender's details.
There are two bid amounts - 10rmb & 50rmb. This means you can bid 10rmb or 50rmb (if you're keen!). All bids will be chronologically recorded. When I receive a bid, I will record the change in an overall spreadhseet for each team.
Once a bid is made it is binding and all payments must be followed through!
Announcments: I will update the club via email showing the latest bid position and the name of the current 'owner' of the each bid team. I will do this at least 3x a week from now...and every day in the last week running up to the close of bidding.
The first game is on Friday 11th June. Bidding will close at 11pm on Thursday 10th June. An official listing of winning bids, bid prices and names will be published via email and on the Club website. (To make it fair, as I am the controller...I will not be able to make a bid after 10.58pm on Thursday 10th June).
Prizes: The person who holds the bid for the eventual World Cup winning team is deemed the winner, and will be awarded 1st place prize. The loser of the final, will be deemed the 2nd place prizer winner. The winner of the 3rd & 4th placed match, will be the 3rd place prize winner.
1st Prize: 40% of the total bid money 2nd Prize 30% of the total bid money 3rd prize 20% of the total bid money
* This is a club fundraiser so 10% of the bid money will go to the club. ** NOTE: Danger Doyle's have been invited to offer additional prizes too, so hopefully each prize place will get an additional award from them.
it's a straight forward competition, and the bidding stage is alot of fun. I will try and update everyone of you as often as possible. DON'T FORGET YOU CAN BID VIA TEXT MESSAGE TOO! Please feel free to call me for an update on the current bid price.
Let the bidding begin!!!!

"Winning games is the aim, but it is just great to be part of this club, this community."
A quote from Andrew, the Barbarians manager, when I asked him to summarise the performances of his team in the last five games. It says is all I feel.
Both the Barbarians and the All-Stars have made a good start to the second half on the season. This was coming, and is evidence of how well training has gone this season. The new recruits has also played their part by fitting in extremely well to the club.

The Barbarians All-Stars continued their strong finish with two more victories in Week 7. After a shaky start to the season, we took 15 points in our final six matches to finish fifth in the final table.
2008 was a successful year for the Barbarians in the 5s league. In the final season of 2007, we finished third in Division 3. Thus we were able to move up a division even as the ClubFootball league expanded from seven to eight divisions.
