Barbarians without fortune against Fortuna! 0-1 Match Report 12.03.2011
Matchday 14 saw the Beijing Barbarians kick off against Fortuna 94. After five games without a defeat, the Barbarians went into the match high on confidence, although the absence of captain Mo and striker Dary was some cause for concern and forced the managerial team of Keith and Jochanan to rearrange the lineup somewhat.
It was an even match between Fortuna 94 and the Barbarians where a single goal for Fortuna decided the outcome of the match. In the first half it was Fortuna 94's Shun Nakamura (27.) who managed to somehow pass two Barbarians defenders and slot the ball into the lower left corner for the 1:0 lead. Apart from that goal, neither team could convert its chances, even with both Alex and Isaac applying consistent pressure along the wings and with Kevin and Henry ever present in the opposition's half.
Barbarians Beat Wannabe Trophy Winners Sexy FC. 3.2 - Match Report 05.03.2011
The Beijing Barbarians kicked off the second part of the season in their first competitive match after a long winter break against Sexy FC. Perhaps to be taken as a bad omen, normal starting keeper Dylan Swann had to pull out of the game due to family illness, and defensive rock and managerial wiz-kid Keith Bradbury was reduced to the sidelines with the flu (though that didn't stop him from smoking a entire pack of cigarettes during the game).
This led to some last-minute changes to the lineup, with the experienced Phil Lowes taking Keith's place in central defense and midfielder Carlos Muniz replacing Dylan in goal. The rest of the lineup was Thomas "Sideshow Bob" in central defense, Kenny "The Chairman" Bain at right back and Tim Traber on the left. In midfield there was Goeran "Yellow Card" Parr in a defensive midfield role and Captain Mo "White Power" Yasin as the attacking midfielder. On the right side in midfield was "Kung Fu" Alex, with Isaac giving his all on the left (more on that later). Up front was the dynamic, unrelenting, lethal duo of Dary Stone and Kevin "Shop and Rock It". Starting on the bench were Billy Goldring, Dave "5 a side" Carini and Jochanan Wallach.
