Ladies & Gentlemen,
I am pleased to announce the Barbarians 2010 World Cup Competition is now open to all!
We've set up an auction system, bidding for each team competing in the World Cup finals. The person who ultimately bids the highest for each team will hold the ticket for that team going into the World Cup Finals, starting on Friday 11th June, 2010.
Here's the format:
Bidding: Any person can bid for any team. A bid is made when I recieve an email OR a text message including the Team name, the bid amount and the sender's details.
There are two bid amounts - 10rmb & 50rmb. This means you can bid 10rmb or 50rmb (if you're keen!). All bids will be chronologically recorded. When I receive a bid, I will record the change in an overall spreadhseet for each team.
Once a bid is made it is binding and all payments must be followed through!
Announcments: I will update the club via email showing the latest bid position and the name of the current 'owner' of the each bid team. I will do this at least 3x a week from now...and every day in the last week running up to the close of bidding.
The first game is on Friday 11th June. Bidding will close at 11pm on Thursday 10th June. An official listing of winning bids, bid prices and names will be published via email and on the Club website. (To make it fair, as I am the controller...I will not be able to make a bid after 10.58pm on Thursday 10th June).
Prizes: The person who holds the bid for the eventual World Cup winning team is deemed the winner, and will be awarded 1st place prize. The loser of the final, will be deemed the 2nd place prizer winner. The winner of the 3rd & 4th placed match, will be the 3rd place prize winner.
1st Prize: 40% of the total bid money 2nd Prize 30% of the total bid money 3rd prize 20% of the total bid money
* This is a club fundraiser so 10% of the bid money will go to the club. ** NOTE: Danger Doyle's have been invited to offer additional prizes too, so hopefully each prize place will get an additional award from them.
it's a straight forward competition, and the bidding stage is alot of fun. I will try and update everyone of you as often as possible. DON'T FORGET YOU CAN BID VIA TEXT MESSAGE TOO! Please feel free to call me for an update on the current bid price.
Let the bidding begin!!!!

Dear club members, friends and family of the Beijing Barbarians,
I am pleased to announce that the club has secured a 3rd tier sponsorship deal with global company hotelscombined.com. Hotelscombined.com will donate a small amount annually to the club to help with website upkeep. In return they will place a small banner ad on the website advertising their services. Please use their services wherever possible!
It's a great little deal and shows that there are opportunities like these all over the place. 3-4 more web banner sponsorship deal like these and the days of 100% club sponsored match fees will soon arrive!
As always there are people working very hard behind the scenes to make everything run smoothly for the club, and again I am looking for someone to volunteer to take on an exciting and key role within the club - Sponsorship Manager.
The position will include touching base with the club's various sponsors for updates and advance notice on events or news. That's about it...but if you feel up to it, the sponsorship manager could also work to find other 2nd or 3rd tier sponsorship deals for the club.
Today, A team manager Keith Bradbury is having an interview with a Sports magazine about his company, Club Football. In an inspirational and generous thought, he's managed to get the interview done in Danger Doyle's where the piece will include a small piece of coverage about Barbarians and the relationship with DDs. Danger Doyle's are the Beijing Barbarians main sponsor.
This is something every one of us, who hold client meetings, can do to help the club and also get good service, and cheap deals for your clients. Consider holding your meeting at Danger Doyle’s, contact Daniel in preparation and with the roof top opening up, you have the perfect venue for a formal/informal meeting.
Thanks everyone and please if you’re interested in taking the simple role of Sponsorship manager please let me know or your manager. Cheers!
Richard
